hello experts
i have just recently salvaged approx 800 sq. ft of prefinished, tounge and groove oak flooring for a hunting cabin in northern mi.

i pulled out the nails and staples (62 lbs.) and im getting ready to plane off the finish. first question, what is the purpose of the beveled edge? do i have to rebevel it prior to installion?
what finish would be my best bet? no stain, just clear finish.
sand, dirt, beer, food, bugs, mice, things that go with bonding during deer season. hopefully somethig that wont have to be re done every year. oil finish maybe?
thirteen years of walking on a plywood floor has got to go.
any thing will be an improvement :D hope somebody can help thanx mike

Hunting cabin?? Your going for the redneck lodge!!! I'm jealous! :D

My grand dad slopped used motor oil on his old hunting cabin floors, every spring.

I'd install it and call it good, with the finish that is on it.

hmmm, red neck lodge. i like it. great name to put above the pole barn.
needless to say, the white film wouldnt come off the finish with out using laquer thinner, which made a mess. so the plaining began right after my post. still need a solution for a finish. help. :(
floor guy, dont be jealous, its just a dumpy little cabin with a ply wood floor. needs a ton of work. but its a place to go. red neck lodge. ilike it. thanx mike
