Getting ready to install 3/4 solid in the master bedroom and bath. The part in the bath that will be wood is just the vanity area. The wet area is tiled and there should be no conflict. It is no different than my powder room downstairs which has been wood since I got here.

Anyway, here is my dilemma. The joists in the master bath are running a different direction than the bedroom. I wanted it just to flow into it, but am having doubts. The subfloor is 3/4 OCB on 16" centers. The bedroom is 18X14 and the bath about 8x11. These are rough measurements.

Do you think I will run into problems with the bath as that is the room where if I flowed it thru, the floor would be parallel to the joist?

Thanks for any advice. This place was a great help when I did the downstairs.

If there is access below you can go in there and block it up with 16 in blocks between the floor joist.

Unfortunately, there is no access. It's the second floor bedroom. Is this something that will give me great problems?

i doubt it really. 8' span isnt normally going to cause trouble might get an extra squeak here or there. Id screw the sub down well and roll with it myself. ( Of course if it did fail , which i doubt, i would understand that its my problem to fix or deal with down the road.) one other decorative option is a 45 deg angle, which is actually stronger than the perpendicular.

I would be running the floor the 11' span. That is the one that runs parallel to the joists. The 8' foot span is actually 6' in 1/2 the room and 8' for the other half. Floor seems solid. No squeeks now with the carpeting there.
