When you trade your old carpet for new hardwood floors, would you expect your heating bill to go up, down, or stay the same?
I just glued down engineered maple floors on our concrete subfloor of our condominium. The floor is ontop of an open-air parking garage. It's our first year in this condo, so I don't have last year's data to compare it to. Floors went in in October and it feels like our heating bill took a big jump. Granted, temperatures outside also dropped, but is hardwood less insulating than, say carpet?
Thanks for sharing any experience.
