We are planning to install Kahrs floating engineered hardwood floors, DIY. We thought we would have the entire floor in, then do the trim.

We are considering hiring someone else to do the trim, and he wants to install the trim (baseboards....1 x 4 ) first. Is this ever done?

He is afraid of scratching the floor. If he is any good, he should know how to avoid doing that.

So, would you definitely recommend waiting until we get the floor installed before installing the trim? Or, is it possible to install the floor after the trim is in place? Thanks.

you have to keep in mind that when you lay the floor, you should have an expansion gap along the walls. when people don't want to bother removing baseboards, they use 1/4 round shoe molding to hide that gap.

so, it doesn't matter one way or the other because someone is going to have to install either shoe molding after the floor is done, or baseboards.
