I'm about to install 1200sf of red oak. I took up the carpet and particle board was under it. I know I should take it up, but if I was to glue luan over it would it work?
What are some of the things that could happen if I were to install over particle board?
Beth

No, you should remove it.

Let's see, the p board could swell from excess humidity and /or moisture and dissentigrate and the fasteners will not hold well and could work loose. We pros consider that a S**T sandwich. Both NOFMA and the NWFA recommend removal. Your warranty most likely would be voided as well.
