I'm preparing to install a Maple floor in our sunken living room. Upon removing the carpet and starting to remove the mouldings I discovered that the step down into the room had been added after the mouldings were installed and finished. I have removed the stair but am wondering if it would be better to build a new step and install before laying the hardwood, or install the floor and finish, replace the moulding and then install the step? Any suggestions out there?

I'd have to see it to personally give you an opinion. Common sense will prevail!!
