We have Mohawk engineered flooring installed in other areas of our home. When we moved in I found about 45 usable sq ft in the garage that I'd like to install as a floating floor.

I'm planning on installing an engineered wood floor walkway that leads from the entry in my master bedroom to the bath. My master bedroom is carpeted, so I'd be ripping out a portion of carpet to install the floating floor. It's on a second story w/a wood subfloor.

Can I install a floating floor next to carpet? I thought the floating floor 'supported' itself & would laying next to carpet provide enough support even with a transition piece in place? I'm envisioning a floor sliding all over the place when not installed wall to wall? Could I get away with a standard moisture barrier underlayment & a bead of glue to hold the seams together?

Thank you for any and all advice.

If Mohawk suggests one of the installation techniques as floating for that product, then you can transition to carpet, with the required moulding.

Mohawk provides installation requirements for their individual products. I would pull up the pdf on their site for your product.

Thanks for the quick response. There's instructions in the box that say I can float it. Thanks, Sam.
