We are installing 5" 3/4" prefinished brazillian cherry flooring with a 2" staple. When you look back accross the floor that was installed you can see a slight bump where the staple is. You can only see it when the sun hits it. You cant really feel it. The staple seems to be going in properly. Has any one ever experienced this.[/b]

This happened to me once. Problem was the bostich stapler was setting the staple too deep. Gun went in for adjustment and it didn't happen again. The pooched boards that you see now will relax with time and be less noticeable. That is what happened with the floor that I did anyways.

Does that mean your tongues were splitting?
What adjustment is there on the Bostich stapler besides air pressure?
Cleats are probably better than staples on Brazilian Cherry.

Is the bump on the board you stapled(tongue side), or is it on the groove side?

Bumps were toungue side. We were using two guns and only mine was doing it. The toungues were not splitting and that's why we didn't notice it for quite some time. We had the Mirage rep and the salesman from Golden State come to look at it and even they were baffled for awhile. When the gun went in, they replaced something (this was 6 years ago and I can't remember what they replaced) and it didn't do it again. The gun has never done it since. The gun was about 4 years old at the time. I faintly remember the repair guy saying it was because I use the mallet from the manual nailer, which he said was too heavy , that caused something to wear out. Switched to the lighter mallet and have never had that problem since.
