I would love some advice on intalling some 5" black walnut flooring that my parents bought for the house that they are building. I have been told that I need to staple each piece and on top of that, I should glue them as well. Does this sound right? And if so, what kind of glue should I use? Thank you kindly for any input you may have.

Curtis

5" solid plank is right at that point where many believe one needs to glue as well as nail. Two ways to glue. Full spread with Bostitck's BST or similar OR use PL400 construction adhesive with 1/4" beads every 8" across the backside of each plank

You say "Glue and Nail" will the staples not hold as well as nails? I own a Bostich Floor Stapler, that's why I ask...

When one says "nail down" in refering to installing wood flooring, it's a generic term meaning "mechanically fastened by steel fasteners". These could be nails, cleats or staples. Your floor stapler will work just fine.
