I'm in the process of replacing the carpet in my condo with 9mm stand bamboo.
When I removed the carpet, I found a wood floor that is about 9mm thick, tongue and groove squares. Underneath that is a concrete sub-floor that I cannot nail or screw into (condo rules). The wood floor is glued to the concrete floor, though in some spots it is loose, and in a few others, the wood is missing and was leveled with thinset before the carpet was installed.
I'm planning to float the bamboo floor. I do have floor outlets, so I'm hoping that doesn't pose a problem with buckling. My questions are:
1) Do you agree that floating is the best option for this scenario? I think the wood subfloor is not deep enough to nail into. Gluing is an option, but it doesn't seem worth the extra labor/cost.
2) Do you recommend floor clamps? If so, how many would be necessary at any given time?
3) Is an underlayment with a moisture barrier a good idea? I am on the fourth floor.
