I would have to say that it was probably the Harbor Freight Stapler. It comes with a black rubber mallet which I used to install my floor.

Not the HF one I got, it came with a nice white mallet. I had a floor nailer from Grizzley that came with a black mallet. It made a couple of ugly scuff marks on the walls that had to be painted over.

I do not understand why you did not look at the floor, and if you did only pay after the job was done?

Floor dudes huh? :) I ain't so sure about that :D

Have you tried using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? They work pretty well. I would be sending them a bill for me having to do it instead of them doing it.

magic erasers are the tickety. Black caps are harder and are intended fro unfinished floors. White caps are softer and mar less but incedently wear out faster due to the softness (especially the newer ones). They used to last as long as the black but with the prefinished market blowing up I belive they softened them or are using cheaper rubber. [qI don't understand his reasoning for beating on the face of the prefinished boards, in a nail down installation?

They are tring not to dent the edge... I am a big advocate of the nailer shoe on prefinished floors, it works.[/quote]
