I knew a guy who would pride himself on how much flooring he could install in a day. He could care less how it looked or if he did it correctly. I was called in many times to fix his floors. Last I heard, he hooked up with some outfit doing track housing. He hired a couple of monkeys that he paid poorly and treated badly. Occasionally, I'd run into this guy. One time he said, "we laid 1000 ft of glue down the other day." I know it would have been of poor quality, no prep, glue smears everywhere, hollow spots, you name it. Anyway, this guy would probably take the job, pay his guys lousy, and still make $500.00 for himself, assuming the owner paid him afterwards. BTW, the "guy" is no longer in business, thank goodness.

you know,i was subbing from a guy once. he has the lumber liquidators contract. he kept telling me how his"other crews" can glue down 100 sq ft in a day,why dont i keep up? for awhile i felt bad like i was slow. i noticed i never had a call back,got plenty of referals from "his "customers" and didnt want to kill myself for 1.25 sq ft. plus i try to go for quality over quanity any day and it paid off. since i left him i have had enough referals to keep me and my helper going. i figure if we do 400sq ft a day( demo included) thats good money made for my company.im in maryland,we can get 2.25-2.75 sq ft pre finished.

well,he claimed he has two crews that are good for 1000sqft each,a day. it dosent matter if the work looks poor,they have the lumber liquidators contract so they will continue to have work. it sucks,i try to do a good job even if it costs me a day extra for labor but cant get in l.l. because of him. tryin to keep the lil guy down.....
