I would like to install 3/4 oak strip over an existing parquet floor. The parquet is 9" by 9" by 5/16 inch. Its glued down with some sort of hard black tar over 3/4 plywood over a crawlspace with faced fiberglass batts between the joists. The crawlspace is about 2 feet high and has a vapor barrior that runs up the concrete block walls (its glued about 8" up on the block).
The parquet is generally in good shape. There are a few tiles missing which I plan to fill with 9" x 9" by 5/16 inch spacers.
Can the parquet be nailed over? Any special instructions?
