I have a pier and beam home that has old pine wood floors (approx. 80 years old) and one newer room with carpet, plywood underneath. We would like to install new engineered floors and if possible would like to install them over the current pine floors. The floors are very flat w/no cupping or other issues. Dont know if this matters but we are in South Texas. Any concerns about installing over these floors? I assume a barrier of some sort should be used under the new flooring.

I appreciate any input.

Thanks

You should be fine. How about refinishing the pine? it would cost quite a bit less.
