The manufacturer sent an inspector to examine my flooring with multiple delamination, checking and cupping. He measured the temperature at 74 degrees, the relative humidity at 31% and the actual hardwood flooring moisture content was 5. He did not take any moisture measurement of subfloor. He did not take any pictures of checking or cupping. Only took 4 pictures of delamination which has occurred in various spots in the house. Total inspection took 30 minutes. The installer was on the phone, and the insepector simply asked what glue he used, and he used Bostik Polyurethane glue.

I figure he came to a conclusion quickly. Any thoughts on what he might conclude if the flooring problems are installation or manufacturing related?

If he's an honest person, he will conclude that the manufacturer is at fault for the delamination. If he chooses to make an issue of the cupping,he might blame that on the installer. These are two "separate" issues.Cupping will not cause a properly manufactured engineered floor to delaminate.

not if the flooring is improperly constructed..the cupping can absolutely be related to construction of the material.

secondly, 74 degrees and 31%..is too high a temp and low humidity....

he will conclude the manufacturer is at fault..he has to..

engineered floors are designed for changes in humidity, moisture etc..thats why they are made..

they are designed to be more stable and can take much higher humidity and moisture changes. It takes alot to cup an engineered floor.

i saw a Mirage floor go completely underwater due a fire.....short of some checking in finish, the floor hardly cupped and dried out to almost perfect.

I'd love to read that report. Please by all means post it, with his name blanked out of course.
