getting ready to do 1500 feet of floor in a remodeled house for my Daughter here in Southern Ca. slab on grade, sandy soil no apparent moisture problems, house originally had 7/8 in. thick parquet for past 60 years.
renting a 17 inch floor grinder to remove the mastic.
latest choice on material is 3/8 in. engineered Armstrong Premier Performance due to the Acrylic treatment and square edge 4 inch board.
i am concerned about the "feel " of wood floor on concrete, so am considering 3/4 plywood as a subfloor. all headers are set high and doors and frames not installed yet.
would it be worth paying the extra $1500 for pressure treated plywood ?
i read that plywood should be cut into sections and scored and glued, i was thinking of screwing it down full sheet with 1 1/2 in. tapcons, i have more faith in that than glue, i have been around a long time and am skeptical of "new stuff "
will 10 mil. plastic be good under the plywood, or do i need a trowel down barrier ?
will 1/4 inch cork between the plywood and floor be worth the $1000. investment ?
if i use cork can i nail it down ? if no cork glue or nail ?
bottom line is i want the best floor i can get, dont want to waste money but its a one time shot so want to get it right.
very interested in hearing from professionals who have done this. Thanks, Dave.

Can't use pressure treated ply, it hold to much moisture. Just do a search on this site for plywood over concrete and you'll find acres of pages dedicated to that.

Heres a couple pictures of a recently completed room I did with a floating 3/4 inch subfloor. Thank goodness the upstairs is plywood. Working my way up to the top.

Concrete is a crazy thing. Installing over it always makes me nervous but I suppose the suspense keeps me out of trouble. As mentioned, there's many threads covering this topic. And floating your plywood and flooring over an impenetrable barrier is always the best route if possible. Anchoring anything to concrete is less advantageous

thanks for the info on pressure treated, in your installation with MVP4 and plastic barrier, are you saying the plywood is not attached to the concrete at all ?..
today i was told that the armstrong Premier performance was similar to a former acrylic impregnated material that proved to be unpopular due to high maintenance, just what i want to avoid, any input on this ?
i see no search bar to look up past posts.....?

Search is right next to FAQ up top. It is not a search bar per se but a tab and after the fact, a more specific search query.

Your right, the one in the flickr link was a 3/4 inch floater. I'd rather do a double layer 3/8 any day to tell ya the truth.
