I've decided on 4 inch wide natural maple, unfinished. I was considering hickory, but can currently get a better deal on the maple. I know that for wider planks you need to blind nail and face nail. For 4 inch would blind nailing only be acceptable? I really don't want to have nail holes to fill in the faces.

Yes, blind nailing through the tongue with a flooring nailer machine, like the Bostitch M111FS, would be the correct way to install that flooring.

Thanks Gary. I had convinced myself of that some time ago, but then at one point someone tried to talk me into 5 inch and mentioned face nailing, which I was trying to avoid, and just wanted to make sure.

I have a MIIIFN (nailer instead of stapler). Ordered the wood today, looking forward to the house coming together. Tiling for the next few weeks, then the wood.
