Hello all. This is a great forum! I'm getting ready to install my floors and I just bought some hwd-15 to use as an underlayment. My question is why does Fortifiber's installation guide say to avoid puncturing this product, when I'm going to riddle it full of staples when I lay the floor anyway?? Also, don't you need to staple down the hwd-15 to begin with? I'd hate to mark my baseline and then have the paper shift all over the place.
Does anyone have any info on this stuff? Thanks.

I do not believe those instructions are for when one is using the HWD-15, which is designed as a substitute for 15 lb. asphalt felt. Those instructions are most likely for Fortifibers wall flashing papers.

Thanks for the response Gary. I figured it had to be a mistake, but here is the actual quote from their instructions:

"Nails, screws, or any other protrusions in the surface must be removed to avoid puncturing HWD-15."

They even type HWD-15 in bold print. Hmmm. Seems like a pretty silly (and confusing) mistake.
