After over one year I'm finally getting ready to lay my 3/4" hickory and yes the wood has been sitting in my living room and dining room for the whole time. My question concerns my humidity level in the house. I had to replace my furnace/ac this summer and I did not replace the humidifier. Currently the humidity ranges from 32 to 35. Will this low humidity cause problems with swelling this summer? The humidity has never gone over 50 during the ac season.

Thanks, Dan

Winter is typically drier inside a house during winter than summer. If you run the AC and the humidity inside the house is at 50% it would be higher outside. If the AC doesn't run for some reason you will have some cupping if the flooring is laid at 35 % at 65 degrees and outside air is 50% or more at 80 degrees and stays
that way during the summer. Keeping the humidity inside stable during the whole year will prevent cupping. Air conditioning makes the flooring more stabile because the humidity is lower with conditioned air.
