I've sanded my red oak floor and I need advice on how to water pop before applying the stain. The stain is bona fast dry red mahogany.
My question is do I use straight water and how would I apply the water to the floor? Also how long do I wait before applying the stain?

Thanks

i just use plain water and a wet rag. i would whip the entire floor making sure that i cover it all. then i would wait for it to dry before i apply the stain. i would take a moisture reading of the wood before i apply the water, when i retake those reading (after applying the water and the floor seems dry) and the numbers are the same, i know the floor is ready for the stain. Be sure not to apply more water than is necessary, only wetting the floor and not soaking it. :)
Hope that helps.
