I am now trying to remove my 15 year old hardwood floor because of a recent water leak. I have found a few websites all saying the same thing about removing the floor but nothing about the glue underneath. If anyone knows of a good way to remove the glue please let me know. Thanks.

The only sure way to remove the glue is with a razor scraper. They are 6 inches wide with a handle and you put the razor blades in them. If there was water damage you must get all the old glue up.

The Lowe's in my area rents a buffer and a "scrape away" attachment.(Nations rent) If you have a large area in which to practice,I highly recommend you go that route.

I have that attachment. I paid 800 bucks for it. It has paid for itself ten times over. It will knock that residue off of the floor in no time flat. If they put your stuff down with original dri-tac, I pity you. That stuff is a godawful mess.

Oh yeah, the buffer deal will only work over concrete. On a wood subfloor, it would turn a buffer into a missile.
