Hi all
I am sanding down a Brazilian Cherry floor in an apartment I have bought and it is just too red for my liking. I much prefer a light Oak color. What can I do to get that color or at worst a medium brown color. Don't want to go dark.

Many thanks in advance for any tips.

You aren't going to get it lighter..

You could possibly try wood bleach but I have no idea what that would turn out like with Brazilian cherry..

as for a Brown..just stain it...try and sample a few colors til you find something you like.

We recently stained Brazilian Cherry Ebony and it looked gorgeous!

I was about to write the exact same thing as James...almost word for word.

No, you can't get it lighter, but you can try a dark stain. We have used ebony and Jacobean and they look great.

Don't even bother to try to bleach it. It will turn yellow and probably permanently damage the wood.

Maybe something to consider might be Rubio Monocoat.. They have about 40 color shades from white to black. You cant necessarily make the color of the wood lighter, but you can lighten it up with one of their light colors.. You can buy small sample bottles here http://www.rubiomonocoatonline.com
