I am having a difficult time figuring out exactly how to picture frame my fireplace tile and make it fit nicely with the rest of the floor.

My tile is roughly 12" out from wall and 61" in length.

Please go to the following link and then click open

http://www.filespoint.com/d/6107705/1148286458/fireplace.doc

I have installed my 3" hardwood planks to within 14" of my tile (see picture).

How do I frame in the tile and make it work with the rest of my floor?

For example, should I install 4 more rows to get within 2" of the tile and then use a 2" wide frame?

If I do this how do I make it come out on the other side of the tile so that I don't have to rip a second 2" piece to make up the difference.

If I used 2" widths then my tile and frame would be about 65". 21 rows come up to 63" so I am left with 2".

Any better way to do this.

Please help!!!!!!

You never will have it come out exact full boards down both sides of the fireplace unless you framed the hearth to fit the hardwood. In a retrospect I would frame the hearth first, then cut up to the hearth. you are going to end up with rips on the sides of the hearth but in this case the only other option is some sort of transition piece:cry:

what would you personally do Kevin?

Would you just not frame it in a rip everything to fit and butt the ends up with the hearth?

what will look the best now?

i am a newbie of course.
