 Post subject: How much do you sacrifice if you go thinner than 3/4"?

It looks like we have a problem "fitting" 3/4" solid flooring in my renovated kitchen. If you go with thinner solids, aside from a sanding or two, do you sacrifice anything else?

Also, what's the minimum amount of time you would allow wood to acclimate to your home before you installed it?

The really thin stuff doesn't "feel" as good to me. It's not as solid feeling I suppose. I'm not sure whether that's mental though. We had some very thin oak floors in our kitchen area when we initially bought our home. I put in 3/4 white oak upstairs and my wife and I both agreed that it felt more solid under our feet. Both installs were done on 3/4" plywood subfloor.

Keep in mind that the thin oak floor was about the thinnest possible you could buy. We ripped it all up and had Travertine put down.
