I am about to purchase the BR111 Triangulo BC engineered floor and I need to do something with my steps. I have a rounded starter step so I am told by the Floor store that I will need to go with the BC hardwood stair treads and risers. They are telling me that they will not match exactly. If they are off too much I don't know if I will like it.
Is there a way to ensure that the floor and steps match?

2 coats of high gloss oil based polyurethane and two coats of semi-gloss Bona Traffic should get you close to the finish on BR-111 products. 2 coats gloss and 2 satin of oil based will also get you fairly close but I have found the first to be the closest. Experiment with a small piece of wood and place it by the floor to see if it is close to the finish before you do the stairs.

So are you saying that I don't need to use a stain to match the color, just the 2 coats of high gloss oil based polyurethane and 2 coats of semi-gloss Bona Traffic. to match the BR111 BC.

Thanks for all of you help.

If the treads and risers are the same species then no you will not need to stain them.
