guys is there a formula to figure out how many staples to use per sq. ft. i am installing around 800 sq. ft. 0f 3 1/4" x 3/4" thick red oak.

You're looking at about 3000 board feet of 3 1/4 to equal 800 s/f of coverage. If you follow a 6-8" nailing schedule, you're looking at between 4500 & 6000 fasteners.

thanks guys.i will probably buy a bostitch air stapler,any particular brand of staples feed better than others or just get bostitch 2" staples and be done with it.I did find a air stapler made by "baron" that is very reasonable but i can't find any reviews on it.
