I am planning to have a pre-finished, floating, engineered floor installed over my ground level concrete slab. The boards will be glued together.

How long do I have to wait before walking on it?
How long do I have to wait before moving furniture back?

Being in a small condo, I am wondering where the furniture will go while the installers are working. Does all the furniture have to be completely removed from the room or can they move the furniture, do a section of floor and move the furniture back, then do the other half of the room?

I just installed a WFi and Kahrs floor, glued together floating. I believe the instructions from the manufacturer said 24 hours. To confirm for yur floor you can go to the manufacturers web site and review the installation instructions or call them

No less then 24 hours.

The longer you wait, the better.

They are going to be using strap clamps, which extend across the room and installed flooring.

Yay, I knew I'd find what I was looking for if I stuck with it long enough. I had the same question about what to do with the furniture. I am planning on floating glued together engineered prefinished BR-111 Braz. Teak over plywood subfloor. It's the second level of a TH and includes LR, DR, kitchen and family room. Can't move the furniture to another floor so I thought of moving everything to one side, laying as much as possible then moving everything onto the new floor and continuing on. But sounds like I need to wait 24 hours before moving the furniture onto the new floor before moving on?

Floorguy: What are strap clamps and are they necessary? This is the first time I've seen them mentioned in floating floors. I read thru the BR-111 installation guide and they don't mention them. Thanks!

All craftsmen that know what they are doing, always clamp their glued together project pieces, to get compression and a firm fit. Strap clamps pull the flooring assembly tight, compressing the glue, for a good bond.

Thanks for the info, Floorguy. One more question...how many clamps and/or how far apart should they be spaced?

Every two to three feet for a typical longstrip floater is usually adequate. The instructions should say. It may require clamps closer if the boards are short. More caution about clamps. Over clamping to lessen badly fitted boards or poorly milled flooring can cause damage to the flooring and the floors will not lay flat. Care must be exercised when clamping floors together.
