I see that Jerry uses the festool saw and was wandering what they are like for dust collection. I thought I read somewhere they collect almost all the dust and would like to use one for cutting indoors. Im getting tired of running in and out and up and down :)

I don't have the Festool Vacuum, I use a Fein vac and it does pretty well. What do you mean by cutting... hooked to a miter saw?

What is the big deal with festool? I have never used any of their products, but they look like normal tools/nothing special. I know the plunge saw is kinda neat, but nothing spectacular.

I was thinking of using the circular saw on a table setup to cut the end pieces but only if their is minimal dust.

I tried a makeshift set up on my mitre saw and it does not work well due to the openess of the blade on the back side. I believe the new skilsaw set-up coming out soon will correct this as it looks like the whole blades covered and it has a dust port.

Not to get back on that Skill setup...I know I busted your chops playing devils advocate

Right now I'd buy one of those today. I'm on this 2nd floor cut up angled install . Going down 3 flights of narrow steep stairs and an obstacle coarse to get to my saws
Something's wrong with this picture, we send rockets to the moon ! But I cant cut in the house !

You know  I have a port on my table saw with a dust collection bag, which does so so . I think I'll try hooking a vacuum to that port.

It's a 10" Makita. At one time I replaced the dust port bag with a Bosch bag, so they must make a portable saw with a dust port. I tried a big machine & edger bag but they dont work great, the shape is different.
Just set it up with a tiny cannister vacume and ran some wood through it . Amaizing ! It's VERY clean. I can even feel suction through the blade slot
I've been searching for that link that Jerry posted a while back on the electrical thingamajobby, cant seem to locate it. But yes! that's all I need and I'm stylin.
I made a platform to set the saw & vacume on, with locking wheels. Cant wait to try it monday. Definetely need the electrical deal though.

Why not just wire it into the switch? You could mount a reciptical on the side that mounts through the switch that would turn on any item pluged into it (vac) when you turn on the saw.

Thanks ! That's a great idea. I think I'll do that , and mount it on the platform with plugins  . As long as it's at a very convenient location to hit quickly.

I believe I read that the festool circular saw and vacuum collects 95-98% of the dust which if is true may be a worth while investment, not only for the time but for the body as well

That's amaizing.
I understand that the quality is second to none. I am also seriously looking at the setup for border work. And there are numerous applications for the "dustless" saw , alone.

Looking forward to checking them out at Surfaces.
