Is it difficult to stain Lyptus comparatively to Red Oak? From personal DIY experience in making furniture (office desk, book case, etc) i know that it is really easy to stain Red Oak and very difficult to stain Maple, so in between these two where the Lyptus stands? Does it requires any special techniques to apply stain or simple apply and wipe out will do the job?
We considering Owens PlankFloor (unfinished) Eucalyptus and according to Owens the lumber for this floor is Weyerhaeuser's Lyptus.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not an s&f guy like some of these guys, but I would see if Owens can send you some planks, ( sometimes they have open cartons ), so you can experiment and not get in trouble. If it was me, I would purchase a carton if I had to, can always use it in the shop for a project. BTW Owens is excellent quality.

the samples from Owens on their way to me but i'm afraid there will be only few pieces so experimenting might end up with only one or two ways of staining so i would not have a lot of options with color/techniques. I need to nailed it right away.

Nothing a little sanding wont solve, have to sand it anyway. Hopefully one of the guys has worked with Lyptus, and can offer some tips.
