Well it is just a plastic, but apparently formulated to melt from the heat of the cleat or staple passing through it and sealing it. I couldn't tell you if this is true, but sure sounds good, and seems to work as stated. No (or virtually none, anyway) callbacks due to cupped floors in new construction since we started using it. Of course, it does nothing to protect the floor from humidity above the floor, but sure stops any moisture penetration from below, which is where we have the greatest trouble due to the speed at which houses are built today.

Dennis, I think you've been bamboozled ! I'm pretty sure just about all plastic melts :P I've got some land I'll sell you out here in the desert, it's unique in that it's the only land in Las Vegas that gets pretty darn hot !

Sorry for slow response, have been on "vacation" for a couple weeks. First the V-lok is 5 mil, and secondly, bamboozled Im not. Granted all plastic melts, but most normal plastic fibres shrink at the same or lower temps that melt them. This you do not want.

Lol, wasn't being "heavy". The use of the V-lok comes as a result of long term testing in the field by our crews, not because of any touting by the manufacturer or supplier. How or why it works, don't much care. Just glad the incessant phone calls have stopped. Sheesh, much rather spend my time on here annoying the posters.
