Hi.
We had a flooring contractor install some hardwood floor the other week. He forgot to order reducers, so we have been walking on it for a week or so without reducers.

He came back this morning and installed two reducers and quarter round, as well as baseboards around the walls. Now when we walk across the floor, there is a very "hollow" noise and the whole floor feels like it's moving. My ears start saying I am reeling, even though the movement must be miniscule. What went wrong? Will the floor settle? Does he need to come back out?

(I am posting instead of asking the flooring contractor directly because I am working through a general contractor for all of these sub conractors and we are sick and tired of the GC.)

Thank you.

Richard

Is this an engineered hardwood or solid hardwood? Is the subfloor concrete or plywood? Was it glued to the subfloor or nailed? If you can tap with a hammer lightly and it sounds hollow all over and/or you can see it moving it is not attached to the subfloor correctly for sure.
