Hi,
I have a flooring issue and was wondering if anyone could help me. We had some wood flooring put in and after about 8 months it came up. We had another company take a look at the floors and take them out. They then installed a new floor. About 2-3 months later, the floor came up in the same exact areas. They then did a moisture reading and found that the moisture was too high in those same spots. Should they have even put in the floors because it was the same problem, which they knew about? Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
Salina

All that should have been checked prior to the first installation. Then since the second company knew there was an issue there, It needed to be corrected before the second floor went in. Jobsite standards and checklist. The installer is responsible for the wood & labor involved in the correction of the wood floor only, your responsible for the corrective measures, after a real professional determines how to correct it to standards.

Salina,

Seems odd that they did not test the failed areas before replacing them.......

Thank you all for your help and sympathy, and sorry for the late response. The wood is pecan wood imported from China and was put on top of concerte. Should the second company have verified that the moisture issue was corrected before putting down the floor again? Thank you for all your help and I am also thankful for this forum.

Thank you for your help. A few more questions...

1. Is there like a set of guidelines or rules that you all follow? If so where could I find them?

2. Lets say that on the day the second company took the moisture tests, they were fine, yet the floor still came up. Does their responsibility go further than the moisture tests? Would they still be responsible?

Again thanks for all the help.

www.FloorReports.com

is a list of inspectors.
From the front page, place your telephone area code into the search function and the list of inspectors working in your area will be seen.

Have fun,
Ray

The NWFA has lots of inspectors... not all are are certified, Maybe Ray can explain that to me. Does it mean they have not performed enough inspections to be reviewed by the instructors?

I'm not quite getting that part. :)

Jerry,

At the NWFA site, there is a list of members. Members are listed by profession. If they consult/inspect; they are listed as such.... The members may not be Certified, but they inspect.

To find "Certified Professionals" you must go to www.NWFAcp.org to see the list of CERTIFIED Inspectors/Installers, ect.

Hope this helps.

This problem is a major confusion to homeowners and is something I would like to see changed;;; somehow...
