First time on this site and you guys seem to know yer sh-tuff! I was wondering if anyone can answer why my final coat with Glitsa Semi over Casa Grade Hickory (Muscanell Millworks) dried really fast. I would lay a brush width and when I came back to start another run the finish was almost dry. Lap lines everywhere. The job is now done and looks great, but man I spent a load on lite scent to git-r-dun. It took several attempts to get it done.

Glitza is a tempermental finish to work with to be sure. Years ago when I used it, they didn't have the lite scent and I always had to use the retarder to keep it from drying too fast on me. If the environment isn't near perfect, you'll have problems appying it. You cannot have any air flow while applying it, can't be too hot or too cold, and you have work very fast like a speed demon. While I still think it is one of the best finishes out there for floors, it's just too much trouble dealing with all it's problems. The flammability, the long cure time, the smell (it always made me ill, even with a respirator), the strong solvents, etc. Now days, I use Bona Traffic and find that most folks are quite happy with it. I'll never go back to acid cured finishes.

I am installing Vert. Car. Bamboo and have not yet decided which finish to go with. Home owner and General Contractor have left it up to me to choose finish, as long as it is a strong and durable finish. Any recomendations?
