I have a job coming up that's in a restaurant floor. We will start at 11pm but they floor needs to be ok to walk on by 10am the following day. We are doing a screen and recoat. My concern is dry time. Is there any product I could use? They want a clear satin finish. They are also unsure of what product was previously put on the hardwood.

Those new UV curing lamps and finishes would be handy for that job.

Another possible choice would be a catalyzed water base finish. Street Shoe or Bona Traffic are two of the best . IF you don't know what kind of goop is on the floor, you should do a test area to check for adhesion issues before you do a full re coat.

What are the new uv lamps and finishes?

I spoke with Bona about the traffic HD and they said dry time 2-3 hours but wait 72 hours before full use. I don't have that kinda time.

The only way to pull it off is with those uv cured systems and if you are not already doing it then I would just pass. What about a hardwax oil?

What kind of hardwax oil do you suggest?

I never found a way around this in commercial work. That last coat was going to be pounded on the next morning, and that's just the way it was.
I never got a call-back on any of the ones I did, and the restaurants got what they wanted--no interruption in their business. I imagine that the coat got scratched up more than it would have with at least three days curing, but the early usage never caused any adhesion problems.

You could try Ciranova Hardwax Oil.
they have three different types:
Hardwaxoil - Good filling properties, natural colour, good chemical and mechanical resistance.
Hardwaxoil Magic - Does not shine and is very matt.
Hardwaxoil Full Solid - The preferred product to finish your parquet in one coat.

These oils are among the best there are, they are in clear as well as colors and Ciranova have a proper Maintenance Oil to refinish once a year and Flooring soap for cleaning.

Have a look here: ciranova-na.com

Daniel.
