I have been trying to match a repair area with the rest of my hardwood flooring. I stained the original wood flooring and it has solid black grain with redish sap areas. Can someone help me identify it? It looks similar to what I have posted here in the URL but the black grains are more pronounced and thicker with more swirl.

This looks like Red Oak that has a dark stain. You are trying to match the stain or the wood species? First growth from mature forests have a lot of tight grain, with lots of growth rings compared to modern lumber and flooring, so the look is slightly different. It looks more like plywood.
The stain color will need to be matched with samples on wood starting with a walnut color, maybe dark walnut, maybe rosewood, or dark oak. When the stain is wet it will look similar to what it does with a coat of finish on it.
