I just bought a house and underneath the carpeting, I found beautiful hardwood floors. I also found hardwood under the entryway. This was cover with linoleum and I was able to take a putty knife and get the linoleum up, but the flooring is still very sticky. Is there a product that I can use that will get the sticky up and not hurt my floors?

Mineral spirits may work, but the first thing I thought was that if you had carpeting down, how many God forsaken tack nail holes do you have from the carpet layers, whom I assume didn't care about the hardwood? I've seen some rather bad carpet pull up in my day...

The linoleum can be saved easily, the other... A give or take situation.
