We hired a contractor to sand down the old stain and applied a clear water/based poly on our white oak floor. To our surprise the floor color turned out to be uneven and there are some white strips on the floor. Is there a way to fix it? We really like the clear coat just these white strips bother a lot.

Your white oak floor has some sap wood that is white. Some companies sell clear white oak that has no sap wood, only heart wood. Your grade includes sap wood which comes from the outside edge of the tree when it is milled.
