It seems to me that if this is a process that would be required for a successful installation it is not an option. An option is not even something that will give you piece of mind that the installation will be more likely to be effective.
That is what you hire a professional for. They are the insurance that the installation process will include the necessary steps to be taken to guarantee a successful outcome.
Now on the other hand if the installer is recommending this process to mitigate a potential adverse jobsite condition. This is not really an "option". Your contract with your builder should cover this type of situation, I would hope.
