Trying to sell house. Ripped up berber to find beautiful floors from previous owner. Joy immediately turned to sadness when we came to where a wall once was in hall of raised ranch. The wood is red oak confirmed. Distinct orange tint but pretty. I just stained a sample with natural and too brown. Someone suggested maybe it was raw oak with only an oil based poly applied. Floors would have been installed 1976 and a quick, cheap mannner if that helps. Any help appreciated!! Can i attach pics here?

Ask a cabinet shop that finishes their cabinets if they have some tint or tinted sealer that you could buy. Conversion varnish will take a tint easily. It dries quickly.
Do a sample to see how it will look.
You could use shellac with a tint if you have a Woodcraft shop nearby. Both are alcohol based.

I found Zar Amber Varnish stain, #129, to be useful in matching orange-colored floors. I have used it to tint other stains, and I've used it full-strength.
