My unit is in the corner of the garage. Before we got a new HVAC(November last year) the coils were pretty clogged. I took them out and cleaned them and the pan, where the drain was clogged on the pan. When it over flows, It leaks down the side of the garage, and a little into the family room.

I had a pan in the return air duct below the unit to catch drips, until I could afford $8000 for a new HVAC system.
