Any help would be greatly appreciated. We have newly sanded red oak floors. We have purchased the Boma Traffic as a finish. But first we need to stain. We had planned on using Varethane waterbased stain in Pioneer. However, a local specialist said to NEVER use water based as it is inconsistent and to only use oil based on flooring.

We need to do this tomorrow, and are quite stressed. 800 sq feet, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Not one flooring outfit I know of uses waterbased stains. Buy some oil stain the bona drifast is what I would recommend with that finish. Make sure to let the stain dry all the way rush it and you will be terribly sorry when it peels off in sheets.
