Walnut,
Welcome. A vast majority of parquets can ONLY be glued down, if you are referring to engineered, wood parquets. Same with solids as well. Check with the manufacturer. Good luck.

Hi Gary,
Thanks a lot.
Since it's a new kind of products we met, we want to see anybody have experience on it. The manufacturer is in China, they don't have many experience in installations...
This parquetry constructed with patterned hardwood lamella surface layer in 3mm, around 9mm plywood core and 2mm hardwood lamella back layer. Profiled in T&G. Size in 13'x13'.
I agree that we use Glue Down fixing. What product do you recommend?
What do you suggest to allow for expansion and contraction? It's prefinished, do you recommend that a final coat is applied once the floor is down?

Thanks in advance for any kind advices from you!!

I don't understand some of the terms you are using. Such as lamella. Does this mean a hardwood veneer? Or does it mean plastic laminate? The reason I ask is to determine which adhesive would be appropriate. I find it odd the manufacturer, even if it is made in China, make no recommendations of how it is supposed to be installed. Being a prefinished floor, I would probably suggest a urethane adhesive that contains no water IF the backing is wood. If it's plastic laminate, you will have to contact the different adhesive manufacturers to get recommendations. I do not think you should get much expansion normally UNLESS excessive humidity or water came into play. Top coating a factory finished floor may void any warranty. I usually recommend against it.

Hi Gary.
Thanks for your advices. The lamella means hardwood veneer, the products' surface layers are in 3mm hardwood veneer.

I requested from the manufacturer for the following of the products:

I think we will take your advices of the urethane glues without any water in our appplications.

Looks good. I wish more people here in the USA wanted parquet floors. When I first started back in the late 70's, parquet was in style and I did a lot of them. I do like those parquet floors. A water free urethane adhesive would be your best bet. Be careful to remove the excess that may get on the surface right away and always follow the manufacturer's instructions and guidelines.

Thanks for your advices Gary.
I also like the parquet floor personally. It's the best combination of art, design and the wood's natrual beauty. I beleive this kind of custom product will return to be popular sooner or later.
So you have work with the parquet over 30 years?
Could you please show us some pics of your favorable projects?

No can do, bon ami. Parquets were popular here over 20 years ago. I never bothered taking pictures. And even today, with my digital camera, I often neglect to take pictures. It just never was a priority. But I have a few pics in the photo gallery. Plus there are some other very nice photos from many other installers, even some of parquets. Check them out!
