A total newbie here. I've read a lot on this board - it's been amazingly helpful - but I have a question I haven't seen answered yet.

I'm right at the point of installing the first set of boards for my new floor (3/8 eucalyptus, prefinished, nail-down install). I've had it in my house for a week now, out of the box and acclimating.

But as nature would have it, the area is expecting very heavy rains (after just receiving more than an inch yesterday, up to 3 inches is expected tomorrow). Of course that is sending the humidity levels into orbit.

My question is: is it still OK to proceed with installing the floor in these conditions?

Hope it's not a stupid question, but I'd rather ask now than complain about huge gaps when the board shrink and split (if they even will.)

Thanks!

As long as the home is closed up I see no reason for any concern. Best to grab a hygrometer and keep tabs on the conditions.
