Installing heartpine 3/4" X 6" prefinished flooring. I have a sunken living room, so where the step down is I am going to be running paralell to the step with a couple long boards protruding slightly over the edge like a stair would do. My thought was to round the step edge on my router table for a nice look. This will obviously take off the finish along that rounded edge. What product would you suggest I use to finish the edge with? The boards are not stained, just finished with a clear.

Are these prefinished products usually a waterbase or oil base? Does it matter that I stick with the same thing that is on it - IE water vs. oil?

Any help is much appreciated!!!

Don

I have done the same thing with Homerwood. I used a little clear sealer and then Bona Mega to finish the edge. I used a little foam applicator to apply the finish to the edge.

It seems in appearance to me that many products are prefinished with water based finishes.
