Does anyone see a problem with having staples spaced at 4 inches apart?

Does it restrict woods from expanding and lead too a blow-up?

Many of my strips have been stapled closely because I wanted to straighten out the warped strips. Stapling closely was an easier way of straightening the board than to use a either a screw driver or a wedge method.

My guess is that the woods expand widthwide rather than lengthwise and therfore close spacing of staples should be OK. I just need a confirmation from a professional/expert.

P.S.: I have 1/2"-3/4" expansion space around the perimeter.

Gary, Floorguy, Ken?

Thanks in advance.

Some of the engineered, specifies, a 4" schedule. More staples can keep a floor from buckling easy, but it will compression cup pretty good.

Depends on the floor. As Floorguy mentioned some engineered floors recommend that spacing because they're thinner and use thinner staples. If it's a 3/4" solid, you could be splitting the tongues, which isn't good.

Well, wood isn't dynamite. It's not going to "blow up". If it got wet, it could cup and eventually buckle. But no different than any wood floor.

Yep, the easy way out and NOT recommended by NOFMA or the NWFA. Crooked strips are either to be wedged over in place, set aside and not used, or cut for starters or ending pieces. I don't hassle with real crooked boards. I just set them aside.
