I have 430 sq ft . I have been staring at a bunch of #1 Red oak (440 sq ft),a little Brazillian Cherry,a bundle of utility grade Hickory, a little Walnut 5",,, a tad of purple heart,,, and a little bit of clear Maple. Its been 4 days and i havent put the 1st nail in! Never thought it would be this hard to figure out what i want.

So i am going to switch into finish mode just to get my mind off the intallation.

I did some sample with Minwax gloss poly,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, looks fake and to shiny for me anyhow,,,,, so i went to a specialty shop and they sold me Bona Dri Fast Sealer 1 gal.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and 2 gal. of Bona Woodline Poly.

My question is .............. how would a professional apply these products,,, and is this a good finish ? In all defense of the store they 1st showed me Traffic water base. Than said a less expensive "but still good" finish would be what i listed above. Is this true?

As far as an Oil-Modified Polyurethane is concerned, Woodline is as durable as they come. But Bona Traffic is easily two to three times more durable. If it's a small area (200 sg.ft or less), I suggest using a high quality 6" natural bristle brush for a novice. Floor finish applicators have a learning curve but most folks can use a brush. Just brush on full, even coats and don't over brush. Don't worry about bubbles, they'll usually pop and flow out. Don't let air blow across the floor as you are applying it and follow the instructions on the cans to the letter. See if you can find a video on applying floor finishes to see how it's done. In larger areas, most pros use a lambswool applicator, a roller or a T-bar. All require some skill to get decent results.
