I had Bruce Prefinished Dundee Plank floors installed 6 months ago. They are cupping terribly throughout the downstairs. Is this the installers responsibility? Before I call him, I'd really appreciate any feedback or advice on how to approach him and how most installers handle this kind of situation. I spent $8000 on these floors and now they will probably need to be replaced! This is a nightmare. By the way, I live on a crawl in the NC if that helps at all.

Thank you for any guidance you may provide.

Thats a touchy question. Cupping after 6 months over a crawl space usually means something changed down in the crawl space or in your house rh wise. I'd call Selva Lee Tucker to come out and do an inspection first. He is in your area.

We have been having one of the most hot and humid summers ever here in the south east and id be willing to wager thats a good bit of the problem. Your floor was installed at the end of the winter when it was bone dry. Now its the opposite, floors swell when exposed to moisture and Id say there is a good chance of that in your crawl space. Need to have some one check with a meter what the subfloors and the floor is reading that will tell you where you are and what needs to change. VEnted crawl spaces are only effective if the outside air is drier than whats in there. Right now they are pulling warm humid air into the cool crawlspace and that will create condensation. If your hvac duct work is dripping wet then you will know thats whats going on.
