Hi all,
I' m getting ready to install hardwood floor on my stairs. I' ll use a 5/16" thick 2.25 wide and random lenghts Bruce hardwood (Natural Reflections) for the treads and have white painted risers. I' ve collected a lot of useful info in this and other forums, but I still have some open questions. Which kind of nailer do you suggest? I have available from a friend an electric finish nailer for 16 gauge finishing nails. Are they too big for 5/16"? Is Liquid nails + nails a viable option? Beveling the back of the boards as Ken suggests to have zero gaps works fine for a 3/4"thick board. Does it work as well for the 5/16" or there some other trick? If I have to dry fit everything, is going to be a problem to take it off for final installation? I' m afraid I could ruin some strips.
Thanks for the help.

With that flooring, I would just glue it down with the adhesive recommended by Bruce. Since it is a solid, you should not use a water or latex based adhesive. If you need to nail a few places, use a 18 gauge brad nailer.
