I'm considering a DIY 3/4" by 5" Santos Mahogony.

How do others deal with exterior door transitions? I don't mind cutting the bottom of the doors but the flooring will be above the thresholds. Is this just something to live with or are there ways to raise the threshold?
I like the wider planks so I'd like to use the 3/4".

Thanks in advance.

Tucson, AZ

I'd probably look for a thinner material. It would just be something that would annoy me until the day I replaced it. Something to trip on even if you got it right.

The only other solution is to reinstall the doors adjusting the height. By far the easiest way of handling it is to just use a thinner flooring material and avoid the problem in the first place.

Are you looking at a solid wood or an engineered wood that is ¾ going over the concrete?

A 5" plank floor going over concrete needs to be an engineered type, not a solid product. I would highly recommend to conduct a mat test in several places first.

Your going to need a plywood base over the concrete, to nail the ¾ solid to.

DON'T Glue ¾ solid.
