I need some advice here. Seems my parents are having some issued with installing Bruce glue down....

The installer (14 years experience) and his helper (2 years experience) arrived about 10:05. The head guy looked at the kitchen, looked at the Bruce Glue that had been delivered and said that glue wouldn't work. He said if they take up the linoleum, the glue that remains is jell like and this glue won't adhere to that glue. I said that the Manager of the store said we had to take up the linoleum and that you would remove the old glue. He said that would leave an uneven surface and it's better to install it on top of the vinyl as that acts as a subfloor and there is special glue to go over vinyl. I mentioned that when we talked to the store about installing it over the linoleum, they were insistent that it had to be removed. The installer said, that they don't install and in this case he would need heavy chemicals to remove the existing glue and even then laying the floor over it, it wouldn't be level. So, to make a long story short, we have to reschedule the floor installation for next week so they can order the glue we need.

Help, comments please!!

He isn't getting paid to take the vinyl up, it sounds like. Did he even check to see how flat the area where the vinyl is installed is? He may have to to some flattening in there.

He knew he didn't have the right stuff to adhere to vinyl, at least.

Bruce says you can. Open a carton of the wood and get out an instruction sheet. They will have subfloor specs.
